PARA OCULTAR MI PASIÓN

Description

"Para ocultar mi pasión por ti" (To hide my passion for you) is a large Mosaic Artwork made by Mexican Artist, Miguel Millo, located in the Palace of Saldaña, in the entrance of the terrace of what today is a Restaurant with Mesoamerican roots

The mural depicts an indigenous woman representing "Abya Yala," a term from the Guna language that means "land in its full maturity", which was used before the arrival of Europeans. In the context of the artwork, the face serves as a powerful symbol of ancestral identity, cultural roots, and the connection to the earth.

This specific piece is part of a series where the artist builds intricate, high-relief volumes and vibrant textures using thousands of tiny tiles, glass elements, and colorful fragments to form expressive human faces, where he blends painting, sculpture, volume, and explosion of colors

The process begins with the painting on a surface, then he uses many different materials, natural pigments, the power of fire, and when the pieces are finished, he then breakes them into thousands of small fragments, layered to create a sense of texture, and human warmth. The artist confesses that a friend of his usually plays cello while he is creating the mosaic so he takes the right energy from the music.

The explosion of earthy reds, deep blues, vibrant greens, and warm yellows represents the diverse landscapes, life, and energy of the continent, and the myriad of tiny tiles showcases the complexity of human life, in a neo-expressionist exercise
