This mural springs from the desire to reconnect urban life in Queluz with the wild, mysterious spirit of the nearby Sintra mountains. It explores an organic fusion where the boundary between city dwellers and the forest dissolves.
In the background, dense and shadowy foliage evokes the ancient woods at our doorstep—a green sanctuary standing in bold contrast to concrete and daily routines. Embedded in this setting, the contemplative figure of a girl (my signature touch) represents a human presence in total harmony with the natural world.
In the foreground, the black stork (Ciconia nigra) anchors the piece. Unlike its urban-adapted white cousin, this rare, elusive migratory bird embodies raw wilderness and ancient elegance. Through an intentional optical illusion, the eye of the stork merges with the eye of the girl, creating a striking visual symbiosis.
They share a single vision: the mountain looking back at the city. Branded by a vivid red beak that pierces the deep green palette, this mural brings a fresh breath of wild magic directly into the heart of Queluz.
