Nordsternpaark

Description

Nordsternpark is a 100-hectare public park in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, located on the grounds of a former coal mine. It blends industrial history with green spaces, bike paths, family attractions and houses one of Gelsenkirchens Halls of Fame.

My personal highlights:

  • The Hercules, created by Markus Lüpertz. An 18-meter-tall statue sitting on top of the old 83-meter-high mining tower, offering great views of the region.

  • Double-Arch Bridge, a striking red steel footbridge crossing the canal, which is a very popular spot for photos.

Andrea Ranke (streetartwalks)
In 2013 I started with a new hobby. In the beginning it was difficult to get reliable information how to find streetart in public space. In 2016, I had the idea of sharing my information with other street art enthusiasts and started my blog “Streetartwalks”. When I found out about this new street art community at the beginning of 2018, I was immediately on board.
