Deze kleurrijke mural van de Japanse kunstenaar Kensuke Miyazaki bevindt zich op de kopgevel van de Bachflat aan de Bachsingel op de hoek van de Haydnlaan in Delft. De schildering werd in augustus 2025 gemaakt ter gelegenheid van 425 jaar betrekkingen tussen Nederland en Japan. De grote golf verwijst naar Hokusai, terwijl de grote vaas in het midden de eeuwenoude keramiekverbinding tussen Delft en de Japanse stad Arita verbeeldt. Delfts Blauw en Japans porselein komen hierin letterlijk samen. De zee staat symbool voor de verbinding tussen beide landen. Kinderen uit de buurt hielpen mee met het schilderen van de vele kleurrijke bloemen. De titel Tunagari betekent in het Japans ‘verbindingen’. Op de eerste detailfoto zijn onder andere enkele historische gebouwen uit Delft te zien, waaronder de Nieuwe Kerk en het Stadhuis. Ook het wereldberoemde Delfts Blauw aardewerk ontbreekt natuurlijk niet. Op de laatste detailfoto staat een uitgebreide beschrijving van de achtergrond en betekenis van het kunstwerk. ========== This colourful mural by Japanese artist Kensuke Miyazaki is located on the gable end of the Bachflat apartment building on Bachsingel, at the corner of Haydnlaan in Delft. The mural was painted in August 2025 to commemorate 425 years of relations between the Netherlands and Japan. The large wave refers to Hokusai, while the large vase in the centre represents the centuries-old connection between Delft and the Japanese city of Arita through ceramics. Delft Blue pottery and Japanese porcelain literally come together in this design. The sea symbolises the connection between the two countries. Local children helped paint the many colourful flowers. The title Tunagari means ‘connections’ in Japanese. The first detail photo shows, among other things, several historic buildings in Delft, including the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) and the City Hall. The world-famous Delft Blue pottery is also prominently featured. The final detail photo contains a more extensive description of the background and meaning of the artwork.
