Tváře klimatické změny: Najiba

The mural, created in 2021, is part of People In Need’s “Faces of Climate Change” project, which seeks to motivate people to become involved in solving global issues and challenges facing today’s world.

It tells the story of Najiba, a 50-year-old widow from northern Afghanistan living with her daughter and three sons. In a region with scarce job opportunities, she took action against desertification by planting trees and building stepped terraces on her land. By planting almond trees, she transformed barren soil into fertile ground, greening her surroundings and providing a sustainable livelihood for her family.
