This delightful dragonfly is adorning the entrance of sustainable boutique hotel Hotel Bent

The artwork shows the rumbout, a rare dragonfly that lives in the area of the hotel. Unlike its flashy relatives, the rumbout is calm, observant, almost inconspicuous. And that is exactly what makes it so special.

He lives only in clean, quiet areas, places where the balance between man and nature is still palpable. This makes him a silent indicator of quality: when he appears somewhere, you know it's a good place.

For this zero-emission, plant-based hotel, the rumbout is more than a local resident. He symbolizes attention, clarity and respect for the natural order of things. Not just a grand gesture, but above all a subtle sign of what is possible if we treat our environment with care.

Paul Watty had his first experience as a graffiti writer in the streets of Tilburg and in Indonesia. He has a Moluccan background and when he was active on the streets for about a year, he travelled to Indonesia for six months, together with his grandparents. On the Moluccan island of Larat, he became the first graffiti artist. Back in Tilburg, he went skateboarding and spray-painting with friends on the former Van Gend & Loos area, where he put his first piece: Aku (Indonesian for 'I'). He regularly sprayed texts along the tracks.

"Pieces along the tracks are seen by many travellers. It gives a kick when you see your 'own' train passing by", says Watty.

Deze muurschildering toont de rombout, een zeldzame libel die in deze omgeving voorkomt. Anders dan zijn flitsende soortgenoten is de rombout kalm, observerend, bijna onopvallend. En juist dat maakt hem zo bijzonder.
Hij leeft alleen in schone, rustige gebieden — plekken waar de balans tussen mens en natuur nog voelbaar is. Daarmee is hij een stille graadmeter van kwaliteit: als hij ergens verschijnt, weet je dat het goed zit.

Voor dit emissievrije, plantaardige hotel is de rombout meer dan een lokale bewoner. Hij staat symbool voor aandacht, helderheid en het respecteren van de natuurlijke orde van dingen. Niet zomaar een groot gebaar, maar vooral een subtiel teken van wat mogelijk is als we zorgvuldig met onze omgeving omgaan.

Paul Watty deed zijn eerste ervaring als graffitikunstenaar op in de straten van Tilburg en in Indonesië. Hij heeft een Molukse achtergrond en toen hij ongeveer een jaar op straat actief was, reisde hij samen met zijn grootouders een half jaar naar Indonesië. Op het Molukse eiland Larat werd hij de eerste graffitikunstenaar. Terug in Tilburg ging hij met vrienden skateboarden en spraypainten op het voormalige Van Gend & Loosterrein, waar hij zijn eerste kunstwerk plaatste: Aku (Indonesisch voor 'ik'). Hij spoot regelmatig teksten langs de sporen.

"Kunststukken langs de sporen worden door veel reizigers gezien. Het geeft een kick als je je 'eigen' trein voorbij ziet rijden", aldus Watty.
