Julien de Casabianca is niet voor één gat te vangen. De Fransman heeft een achtergrond als fotograaf, filmmaker, graphic novels en … street art. Niet dat hij daardoor ook goed met verf overweg kan, maar dat maakt zijn murals niet minder indrukwekkend. De Casabianca neemt personages uit historische schilderijen, rukt die uit hun context en ‘kleeft’ ze op torenhoge muren, waardoor ze zowel een ander leven als vaak ook een andere betekenis krijgen.

Julien de Casabianca likes to shake things up. The Frenchman has a background as a photographer, a filmmaker, a graphic novelist, and a street artist. Not to say he’s a masterful painter, but that does not make his murals any less impressive. Casabianca takes characters from historical paintings, yanks them out of context, and ‘glues’ them onto towering walls, giving them a whole new life and often also a different meaning.
