Inspired by the characters in the book "The Frog's Dreams" and guided by personal memories of her great-grandparents from Lithuania and Poland, who became the storytellers of her childhood, the author painted sunflowers on the wall of the building. One of the main characters in the book "The Frog's Dreams," the Storyteller, gives the Frog dreams. In one of them, the Frog must give his heart to death. When this happens and the dream comes true, the Storyteller splits into many storytellers, like seeds in a sunflower.
This flower symbolizes each of us as the Narrator of our own story, and the seeds inside it symbolize our dreams, which scatter when they come true.
Thanks to young volunteer artists from Marijampolė, this work brings the souls of the author's great-grandparents back to their native roots, and the sunflower seeds represent all of us who create the world with our stories.
Created for Mallony festival in 2020.
