In celebration of the 150th anniversary of Impressionism in Argenteuil, Hopare was selected alongside other artists for a special project. This opportunity pushed me beyond my comfort zone, encouraging me to explore new perspectives both artistically and humanly.
"The concept was to create a piece in true collaboration with the residents of the Val Sud district. I took the time to meet people, listen to their stories, understand their dreams, and gauge their expectations. I distributed questionnaires, but the real magic happened during our conversations. As I walked through the streets of Argenteuil, I encountered remarkable individuals—faces, smiles, and life stories that deeply touched me. Each exchange enriched the project far beyond what I initially imagined, offering unexpected anecdotes and moments I could talk about for hours.
After these moments of connection, I created two models, drawing inspiration from the city’s history and the spirit of Impressionism. The residents voted, and the mural ‘The Golden River’ was selected. To further bring the mural to life, I invited some of the locals to represent themselves directly on the wall.
Another project part of the idea to transform the urban landscape of Argenteuil into a living open-air museum.
