The mural, created in 2021, is dedicated to Ruth Hálová (*1926 †2020) and was part of the project “Neznámí hrdinové” (“Unknown Heroes”), which brought the stories of people connected to Ústí nad Labem into public space. Ruth was one of the Jewish children rescued from Nazi persecution by Nicholas Winton in 1939. Sent to Britain at the age of 13, she survived the war and returned to Czechoslovakia in 1945. In Ústí, she was reunited with her mother, who had survived the Terezín ghetto. Ruth later returned to the city, where she worked as a microbiologist.
