Description

This 22 m² mural, located inside the Massalfassar Town Hall, is a work that pays tribute to the town’s collective identity, traditions, and cultural life, integrating festive, gastronomic, and agricultural elements that form part of the community’s shared memory.

Under the motto Your town, Massalfassar,” it is conceived as a visual narrative that highlights what defines Massalfassar. The scenes dedicated to the Colla dels Dimonis and La Sortija evoke the intensity and emotion of the festivities held in honor of Sant Antoni Abad; the fire, the gunpowder, and the figures in action symbolize the town’s most emblematic popular celebrations. The presence of the traditional olla de fesols i naps refers to local gastronomy and to moments of collective gathering.

The mural also includes a tribute to the local agricultural landscape, with references to the market gardens of Massalfassar, including the depiction of La Cebera, an emblematic structure that has disappeared but remains deeply rooted in the community’s collective memory, and the artichokes, as a symbol of agricultural work, the connection to the land, and the continuity of the territory.

The composition is conceived as a mosaic of images that interact with one another, creating a dynamic and accessible reading for the viewer. Beyond beautifying the institutional space, this intervention is also established as a resource of local identity and pride, turning the Town Hall into a place of symbolic representation of the history, traditions, and community of Massalfassar (Valencia). 🎨🏛️🌱
