The idea for the project “The Poetics of Latvių Street” came to Viktorija Jonkutė, a literary scholar and initiator of Lithuanian and Latvian cultural projects, after she saw Tadas Bujanauskas’s works at the Riga Street Art Festival. This project aimed to beautify the space on Latvian Street in Vilnius and promote cultural ties between Lithuanians and Latvians.
The drawing “Vilnius – Riga, 2021” was created as part of the project: against the backdrop of the Riga skyline, we see two stylized portraits of Latvian poets: Jānis Rainis and Knuts Skujenieks. The nice thing is that both poets have connections to Lithuania.
