Haustor

The Pimp My Pump project started in 2014 and was initiated by Boris Bare, who invited his friends to paint over 100 unused public water pumps scattered all over the city. These water pumps, which the locals call Franceki, were once a vital spot in every neighborhood, serving not only as a source of fresh drinking water, but also inviting children to play during the hot summer months. After the city turned off most of the water pumps, they decided to give them back their previous status by painting them and attracted again the long-lost attention they once had. The designs are various, inspired by pop culture, music, cartoons, movies, art and local themes like this one which was inspired by the album cover of a famous Croatian band named Haustor (1979-1990) and created in collaboration with the local graffiti writer Modul8. After the local authorities decided to turn the water pumps back on, Pimp My Pump stopped, having achieved their primary goal. Today, Boris Bare is in charge of the Art Park project and paints big and smaller murals all over the city. In collaboration with the city's tourist bureau, a new series of pimped pumps was initiated in 2021. Here you can find more info: InfoZagreb
