Napier street artist Cinzah is painting a large mural on the back of the Gatshack building, while local artist Simon Ormerod is painting a mural on the Central Glass building, facing the Royal Whanganui Opera House. 

"I'm really into story-telling. The mural will be on several different levels, but it will be one cohesive image telling the Maori mythology behind where Whanganui came from," he said. 

Cinzah has been involved with street art for a decade and has painted murals all around the world, including Australia, Mexico, the United States, and Asia.  And while it's his first mural in Wanganui, he'd love to do more if local building owners were interested.  "There's a lot of potential for street art here," he said.
