Guinevere Claims her own Heart

‘Guinevere Claims Her Own Heart’ is the title of the work from Irish artist Shauna at Weston Wallz 2025. It is part of a wider series of works in her ‘Myths and Legends’ series. Queen Guinevere, she says, is forever tangled in the shadow of Arthur. Often reduced to a pawn in the myths of Camelot. She’s portrayed as a faithless wife, a damsel and an object. Guinevere says Shauna “rarely gets to speak for herself”. Now though in this work she has had enough.

She’s broken free from the old scripts and rewritten her own legend, no longer defined by kings or knights. She’s fled the confines of Avalon and stolen herself away to the twinkly seaside lights in Weston-super-Mare. She’s claimed her own heart.
