The Weethalle silos were painted by 38 year old Mongolian born mural artist Heesco Khosnaran. Heesco was one of nine artists from across Australia to lodge an expression of interest in the silo art project. He was selected by a committee comprising of council and community representatives following an extensive short listing process.
They portray a shearer, a grain farmer and a small flock of sheep perched high on a balcony. They took two weeks in June 2017 to complete with a budget of just $10,000.
The $10,000 Bland Shire Council project was made possible by grant funding through the Country Arts Support Program, corporate and local sponsorship and the generosity and co-operation of the silo owners, Paul and Jenny Northey.
What a very worthwhile investment for the community and surrounding areas it has turned out to be.
