Vadim Mezzo

Vologda is famous for its exquisite wood carvings, and I wanted to explore this aspect in my work. The woodpecker, carving ornaments into tree trunks with its beak, is portrayed here as a patron saint of woodcarvers. The work itself is a tribute to human handicrafts—true creativity that will always be valued, despite the inevitable displacement of technology. The work was created as part of the Palisad festival.
