Um pardal tem sede

Each street, no matter how crooked or narrow, holds countless stories. As it is impossible to tell them all, Histórias Viandantes decided to pay homage to some.

António Ferradosa, nicknamed Fum-Fum because he was cheeky, was a shoe shiner who used to work at the old Café Américo (located in Praça da República). He became known for his relationship with sparrows. He fed them every day and so wherever he went, the birds followed him. According to the story, at his funeral, the flock of sparrows followed the coffin from the church to the cemetery, in a farewell tone.
