Bobby Sands

The IRA militant Bobby Sands, who died in 1981, was commemorated on four former cooling towers with various Irish symbolic elements: a beer mug, three top hats, the colors of the flag, a harp, a Celtic cross, clovers, the Easter Lily, a lark symbol of freedom. The rainbow ribbon is a symbol of peace and the Irish legend that a pot of gold can be found at the base of the rainbow.
