The more than 120-year-old convent of the missionaries of "The Sacred Heart" has a large world map as a mural. The painting is part of the restoration of an unsightly wall, a scar that was left behind after a wing of the complex was demolished for new construction. The painting is a "nod to the past": the 13-by-9-meter map of the world shows where the missionaries were active. The center of the world this one time, is Tilburg. From the city lines run to Brazil, the Filipines, Micronesia, Indonesia, the Moluccas, New Guinea and Melanesia. The lines are colored red because along these lines the Rooi Harten traveled into the world. The map is a monument in honor of the "Rooi Harten" (Red Hearts) the immense missionary at the Bredaseweg.
You can find the mural at the backside of Restaurant Monarch.
