Sheep and shepherds

"On the way to my village, I have to pass a place where there are sheep for sale by the side of the road. There is often a traffic jam at this place, as it is close to the entrance to the city, and once, very tired and irritated by the hustle and bustle of the jam, I looked at that meadow.

Just thirty meters away, a small flock lies, completely still, almost motionless. Just thirty meters away, a completely different world is visible, where sheep are lined up to be slaughtered, to be sold, and yet, they wait, completely still.

We, on the other hand, have to wait in traffic just for ten or twenty minutes and go completely crazy: we curse, look for opportunities to overtake, signal each other, and make the traffic jam even worse. The difference of those emotions inspired me to paint this motif for the wall, because that's how Tbilisi lives, in speed, chaos, lack of empathy for each other, and indescribable noise.

In such madness, I think this quiet and peaceful work will give the viewer a chance to take a break, pause, and think about all this for a moment. This work will be an exit way from the noise into peace."
