Portrait of Tiki Taane

Located on Pheonix Lane, once you've located Kali and Adnate's work just keep walking down the lane. It's on the left.

Created for the 2017 Street Prints Mauau Festival

The mural was painted by visiting Australian artist Claire Foxton. Claire has an obvious love of large-scale murals where she mixes portraiture with abstract art.

“Given that my wall is the back of the local performing arts centre and music school (@totara_street) I wanted to paint someone who has inspired young people in the performing arts, so my subject was none other than local man & international success, @tikitaane. Tiki is a musician, producer, engineer, and activist and one of New Zealand's most well-known artists, rising to prominence as the front-man of Salmonella Dub in the 90s before embarking on a successful solo career. On the 2nd day at my wall, a young guy walked by, noticed who I was painting and told me that Tiki was his biggest inspiration to make music and turn it into a career one day.”
