Arkadiusz Andrejkow about himself:
"I try to place my characters on surfaces that are practically ready-made images for me. I am primarily attracted to their rawness and naturalness. I focus mainly on portraits made at a relatively fast pace, which leads to them being transparent to a certain extent. Discolorations and stains on raw concrete or rust on freight cars combined with delicate chiaroscuro created with spray paint create a specific form for each character. An equally important aspect is the environment in which I place my work. Sometimes the painting is practically integrated with the space around it, so the recipient does not notice it at all, or notices it only after some time.
I am inspired primarily by photographs of old people. First of all, because their faces are filled with contrasts of light and shadow, which allows for a quick "outline" of the character of a specific person. I do not make sketches or designs. A photo album is a kind of sketchbook for me. I have edited many photos a dozen times. For me, development is an important aspect of creative work. I try to paint a lot, which leads to searching for new techniques and solutions that "push" my work forward."
