A flock of Gouldian finch congregate to share their findings, one side of the wall shows each finch in commute back and forth, while the other side of the wall shows a more detailed perspective: a treasure chest of Mashman pots and what the finch have collected altogether. Each have found the totem of national flowers from all over the world.
"'Fantastic worlds aren’t so far from our day to day – when one seeks it, things are happening all around us.’ It was essential that the work reflect the energy and qualities of the community and parkland users. What I have learned from my research in Mashman Pottery Works (1908 – 2010) is that there is a value for craftsmanship, preserving methodologies and passing on tradition and knowledge that dates back to 100 years ago. Having the theme of Pottery in the mural is important for remembering and honouring the heritage of Mashman Pottery and that it was loved by many locals in the greater Kingsgrove area."
