Uplift

This artwork responds to the tragic Probert Street boarding house fire, 15 March 2022. The flora symbolises healing and recovery. Wattle and Banksia flowers are the first to regrow after bush fire. Flannel flowers are native to the New South Wales bushland.

Birds represent personal stories, journeys and community. The Demoiselle Crane from Euro-Siberia symbolises the migratory journey. The Regent Honeyeater is known for song, the Willy Wagtail for its dance. Both birds symbolise the importance of connection through music and song to uplift spirits and communities.
