Lowering Harrington Street 1914

The former steepness of The Rocks is evident in this photography. Although Harrington Street existed on two levels, the houses fronting it on the right stood a further two metres higher than the former road.

Towards the left - in the distance you can see the Essex Street intersection and Lang Park on Grosvenor Street. The tower of St Phillip's Church on York Street, seen in this image, still stands today.
