LET ME BE (LAISSE-MOI ÊTRE)
The situation is alarming, and yet we must find solutions together. Millions of people are doing what they can to alert our elected officials and simply ask for more democracy. They remind them of scientific facts, the climate emergency, the loss of biodiversity, and the poisoning of our planet. Petitions are signed, people campaign and mobilize—but what happens? Meanwhile, lobbies maintain disinformation or lie to sow doubt, much like the giants of oil, intensive agriculture, and tobacco. For decades, decisions have been imposed on us by large corporations to defend private interests that contribute to the destruction of biodiversity and affect people’s lives. The legislative path is not working; our decision-makers have chosen to portray environmentalists as eco-terrorists, associations fighting corruption are being dismantled, and so on.
Let us be. Let us speak and defend life instead of criminalizing us. Quite simply, we need more social, fiscal, and environmental justice.
