Description

This large-scale mural wraps around the St Helens RSL building, weaving together remembrance, history, and place. Bold red poppies symbolise sacrifice, while rows of white headstones honour those who served. A sepia-toned wartime scene depicts soldiers marching past ruined buildings, evoking the realities of conflict and loss. Between these heavier moments, soft blue skies and drifting poppy petals introduce lightness and movement, creating a quiet pause for reflection. The mural also opens into calmer coastal imagery, grounding the story in the local landscape and community. Created with support from the St Helens RSL Sub-Branch and the local community, the artwork stands as a heartfelt tribute to service, memory, and collective gratitude.
