nniskillen is the English translation for Inis Ceithleann meaning Ceithleanns (pronounced Kathleen) Island.
She was a prophetess and a warrior; known to be the defender of Ireland. Legend has it that she would regain youthfulness every time a young man martyred for Ireland.
She was injured in battle and swam across Lough Erne to escape, landing on what is now Enniskillen.
