As part of the national operation "Le M.U.R. ", the municipality of Saint-Raphaël chose in 2017 to support the establishment in the old center of a new place of artistic creation dedicated to urban art.

She first accompanied the association "Move In Silence", then today "Artem 83", in the implementation of this process, which allows urban artists, on a regular basis, to invest a support 3 meters high by 8 meters wide, by performing on site an original and ephemeral performance, of the "Street art" type. A project contributing to the promotion of contemporary art and more particularly urban art. And which borrows from the advertising display its periodicity: 5 works succeed each other per year on this support originally provided by the company DECAUX.

The association "ARTEM 83" relies for this purpose on the sponsorship of the national association "Le M.U.R." (Modulable, Urbain, Réactif), pioneer of the project in the district of Oberkampf in Paris in 2007. The National Association, which has supported around thirty "MURS" in France since their creation (Bordeaux, Marseille, Nancy, Pérols, Roubaix...) by sponsoring local associations, as proposed at SAINT-RAPHAEL.

The inauguration of this 20th MUR in France in June 2017 at SAINT-RAPHAEL, has since strengthened the cultural identity of the old center of Saint-Raphaël, by its complementarity with the Quartier des Arts and the "Rencontres artistiques du Safranié".

The local association "ARTEM 83" and its president, Emma PICQ, propose with the support of the City, the creation of an ephemeral work of urban art on the occasion of each edition of the Rencontres du Safranié; 5 per year carried out on the first Fridays of February, April, June, October and December.

As long as they have a link with the urban artistic logic, all techniques and modes of intervention are welcomed. Graffiti, Street Art, Diversions, Installations, In Situ, the contributions are free and multiple.
