Description

Rotterdam has a tradition to appoint a city poet. During the period of 2017-2018 the official Rotterdam city poet was Derek Otte. After the period for a poet ends, they get gifted a wall poem somewhere in the city. In the case of Derek Otte this line from one of his poems was designed and painted here by Shon Price.

The line is a variation on the saying “there’s more then one way leading to Rome”. The name of the city of Rome has been replaced by the Dutch word “dromen”, translating to “dreams”.

In the weeks leading to the unveiling of the mural in 2019, Derek and his successor Dean Bowen hosted poetry workshops in the neighborhood.
