Description
Because of it's location, this artwork is best viewed from inside the metro. You pass it on the way from Slinge station towards Zuidplein station (look out of the left side window).
The building the artwork is on is a school. Because they had a lot of problems with graffiti vandalism, the artist proposed to put up a large mural. This idea was welcomed with enthousiasm by the school. The only condition they had, was that the mural showed a message of hope that was fitting for the Christian background of the school.
The painting is a representation of the Bible verse Isaiah 40:31 reading as follows:
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
The mural stretches over 200 m2, covering 3 walls.
