This mural is about change, reflection, and the strength it takes to choose a different path. It’s about finding light in dark moments and realising that peace and understanding are the true signs of strength.
It’s part 2 of our Darkness to Light documentary series, this episode focuses on violent crime and how we can build stronger, safer communities together.
The mural was inspired by real conversations with people who’ve turned their lives around, been effected by violent crime, supported others, and found purpose in the right spaces. These connections matter. They build pride, belonging, and hope.
This piece is dedicated to Callum (Russell), a local lad who sadly lost his life to violent crime.
A huge thank you to his mum, @tracy_marsland , for sharing hers and Callum’s story with us.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Sharing your thoughts, experiences and ideas. Its been an absolute pleasure getting to know you all and building this mural together.
The full documentary will be out in the new year. Look forward to sharing it with you all.
