This abandoned paper factory called Hartera, where also the first steam-machines on the Balkan were installed, used to be an important and vital part of Rijeka's industry for almost 200 years. Shortly before the Civil War, it was even the second biggest producer of cigarette papers in Europe, while today its buildings serve as a perfect canvas for street artists and graffiti writers.
