Wishes for humanity

Eng.: The Essen-based artist Ursula Meyer has created an impressive 65-metre-long mural for the façade along the Ludgerusbrücke bridge on the Hohe Lucht. Under the title ‘wishes for humanity’, she has combined a total of 12 motifs into a kind of strip that addresses themes such as empathy, mutual help, peace with oneself and in the world or the change in consciousness in the coexistence of people and nature.With her expressive motifs and colours, Ursula Meyer has developed an unmistakable style that refers not least to the Argentinian-born artist's South American roots. Where previously concrete-grey dreariness accompanied the sloping path from Münsterstrasse down to the Ems, a space full of life has been created.

Deu.: Für die Fassade entlang der Ludgerusbrücke an der Hohen Lucht hat die Essener Künstlerin Ursula Meyer auf einer Länge von 65 Metern ein beeindruckendes Mural geschaffen. Unter dem Titel „wishes for humanity“ hat sie insgesamt 12 Motive zu einer Art Strip zusammengefügt, der Themen wie Empathie, gegenseitige Hilfe, Frieden mit sich und in der Welt oder den Bewusstseinswandel im Miteinander von Mensch und Natur thematisiert.
Mit ihren ausdrucksstarken Motiven und Farben hat Ursula Meyer einen unverwechselbaren Stil entwickelt, der nicht zuletzt auf die südamerikanischen Wurzeln der gebürtigen Argentinierin verweist. Wo vorher betongraue Tristesse den abschüssigen Weg von der Münsterstraße zur Ems hinabbegleitete, ist ein lebensfroher Raum entstanden.
