"BERKA" Orsoyerstr. 43 / corner Innenwall 1a, Rheinberg were created as part of the ARTlon Festival in August by a creative group consisting of Hocker from Mönchengladbach, Al + Corte from Spain and Stom 500 from France.
The city gate once stood at this point, now the visitors are greeted with a really great portrait of the city (before there were only graffiti at this point, see picture)
Berka is the old Germanic name for Rheinberg, which means something like "Siedlung am Uferberg".
In the meantime the Rhine has shifted a little! Berka was the most important customs festival on the Rhine until the 30 Years War, then it was moved to Uerdingen.
