Point Bird

In September 2022, an unusual guest appeared on the WPP Bubenská campus building, bringing a completely new energy to this part of the Vltava riverbank. The abstract sculpture combines geometric, rounded shapes with a fantastic organic form, where glossy, vivid blue surfaces meet a contrasting bright orange opening. Seen by some as a bird or a dragon, it appears to watch over Štvanice Island from its terrace during the day, while after dusk its opening pulses with red light, measuring the nightlife of this quarter. The 3.5 × 5.5 m sculpture is a much larger version of the small Point figures, one of which can still be spotted on the cornice of a nearby building. The concept dates back to the early 2000s, when Kaláb transformed his former writer tag into 3D graffiti. Subsequent “invasions” of Points appeared in the hundreds on the edges and corners of apartment buildings, rooftops, and gables in 2004, 2006, and 2018, evolving from a horned cluster of letters into more organic forms, with the letters dissolving into rounded contours.
