Pérák

The huge line drawings of Pérák, the first Czech superhero, return this urban legend from Prague’s industrial districts such as Žižkov to its origins. Born in the Protectorate era as a fighter against the Nazis, Pérák now represents, for the artist, the courage to stand up for others and confront xenophobia and conservatism. Painted in May 2022, the mural was created as part of the MuralArt UM project, a component of the Prague City Gallery’s Art for the City program, with the proposal selected through a competition.
