The artwork was created by GamberrArte, a local street artist known for stencil-based pieces that combine social reflection with simple but powerful imagery. His signature appears in red at the bottom right of the mural.

Title

There is no officially published title, but the work is commonly referred to as “The Storyteller” or “Grandmother and Child”, based on the scene it portrays.

Approximate Date of Creation

This stencil mural belongs to a series of urban artworks that began appearing in Pola de Siero around 2019–2021, during which GamberrArte produced several small-format interventions throughout the town.

Description of the mural

The mural depicts an elderly woman sitting in a rocking chair reading a book, while a child kneels before her, listening attentively. To the left, a trash bin filled with spray cans and a small toy or mechanical bird with a red heart add symbolic contrast.

The image evokes themes of storytelling, memory, the passing of knowledge between generations and the emotional connection between youth and age. The black-and-white stencil style reinforces its simplicity and expressive impact.

I started painting with spray cans in 1999, and I liked it so much that I wanted to learn how to use it to create art, to be able to decorate streets all over the world, and thanks to the effort and perseverance, today my work is muralism with graffiti.
