Pignouf

Pignouf - (n.m.)- Individu mal elevé, grossier et sans finesse.

Le mot vient sans doute du verbe pigner, verbe dialectal normand signifiant pleurnicher. On retrouvait également ce terme chez les cordonniers, le maitre sappelle poncif, l'ouvrier gniaf, et l'apprenti pignouf.

The word probably comes from the verb pigner, a Norman dialect meaning to cry. We also found this term among the shoemakers, the master sappelle poncif, the gniaf worker, and the pignouf apprentice.
