Clever & Smart

Description

The artists Kayo from Cologne and Spade from Berlin focussed on an old tradition in graffiti. They combined their impressive letter styles with characters from the cartoon cClever and Smart, which the illustrator Francisco Ibáñez designed in the 1950s.

Sven Niemann is a PhD student at the Institute for German Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of Paderborn. His research interests are political graffiti, protest language and forms of minimal writing in public space. Since 2014 he has been leading public graffiti tours for the tourist information office in Paderborn. As a team member of the Secret City Fassadenfestival, he promotes the visibility of urban art in his adopted home of Paderborn.
