Van kinds af aan liep A Squid Called Sebastian rond met schetsboek en potlood. Eerst in het verre Massachusetts, later in Gent. Melancholie en symboliek zijn verweven in zijn werk. Zoals in dit nachtelijke tafereel. Een man kijkt weemoedig om naar de zee en enkele dobberende boten in de baai. Een metafoor voor de vergankelijkheid van de visserij.

Dit kunstwerk werd in 2023 overschilderd door Pat Perry.

A Squid Called Sebastian wandered around with a notepad and a pencil from a very young age. First in faraway Massachusetts, later in Ghent. His work is suffused with melancholy and symbolism. This applies equally to this night-time scene. A male figure is looking longingly at the sea and some boats float in the bay. A metaphor for the transience of the fishing industry.
