Help The Trees Grow

KMG heeft al heel wat muren aangepakt met haar kleurrijke en subversieve werk, waarin ze naar eigen zeggen jeugdige enthousiasme combineert met ongebreideld cynisme. Hoewel er in Oostende opvallend weinig van dat laatste te zien is. KMG heeft misschien wel het schilderij De vechtpartij van James Ensor als uitgangspunt genomen, waarop twee mannen elkaar in de haren vliegen, maar uiteindelijk heeft ze drie opvallende muurschilderingen gemaakt die vooral over beweging gaan, en niet over woede of wantrouwen.

KMG has tackled quite a few walls with her colourful and subversive work, in which she says she combines youthful enthusiasm with unbridled cynicism. Even though there is remarkably little evidence of the latter in Ostend. KMG may have taken James Ensor’s painting The Fight as a starting point, which features two men who are at each other’s throats, but she ended up creating three eye-catching murals that are mainly about movement, not about anger or distrust.
