Битва

Валентин Бобров за основу своей монументальной работы, сделанной в рамках фестиваля "Место", взял картину "Битва" Валерия Ивановича Алёшина (1937–2011), художника, поэта, "отца горьковского андеграунда", открыто бунтовавшего в 60-е гг. в Горьковском Художественном Училище, почему и был направлен "перевоспитываться" в Чебоксары. Говоря об Валерии Алешине, нельзя называть его диссидентом, скорее речь идет о "внутреннем нонконформизме". Работал художник учителем ИЗО в школе и преподавал в изостудиях, тем самым был свободен от статьи за тунеядство и спокойно мог творить, не ограничивая себя рамкам социалистического реализма.

Начиная с 60-х гг. работы Валерия Алешина выставлялись только на квартирных выставках, вплоть до развала Советского Союза. Дальнейшее развитие андеграундного искусства можно видеть в 1970 – 1980-е гг., когда очертания этой среды, уже включавшей многих представителей и обретшей своих лидеров, становятся все отчетливее. В Горьком были "свои места" подпольного искусства, где проходили выставки – конечно же в художественных мастерских по всему городу, самоорганизованные уличные экспозиции за кинотеатром "Ракета" и квартирные выставки в Сормово. Поэтому проект по переосмыслению картины Валерия Алёшина был реализован именно в этом районе города, с которым связаны многие события из жизни художника.

Valentin Bobrov based his monumental work, created as part of the "Mesto" festival, on the painting "Battle" by Valery Ivanovich Alyoshin (1937–2011), an artist, poet, and the "father of the Gorky underground," who openly rebelled in the 1960s at the Gorky Art School, which led to his being sent for "re-education" in Cheboksary. When speaking about Valery Alyoshin, he cannot be called a dissident; rather, it is a matter of "internal nonconformism." The artist worked as an arts teacher in a school and taught at art studios, thus he was free from the charge of parasitism and could create freely, without limiting himself to the boundaries of socialist realism.

Starting from the 1960s, Alyoshin's works were exhibited only at apartment exhibitions until the collapse of the Soviet Union. The further development of underground art can be seen in the 1970s–1980s, when the contours of this environment, which already included many representatives and had its leaders, became more distinct. In Gorky, there were "special places" for underground art, where exhibitions took place—naturally, in art workshops throughout the city, self-organized street exhibitions behind the "Raketa" cinema, and apartment exhibitions in Sormovo. Therefore, the project to reinterpret Valery Alyoshin's painting was realized in this very district of the city, which is linked to many events from the artist's life.
