Survive

'Survive" is part of Unframed presented by The Helis Foundation, a project of Arts New Drleans, which brings the vibrancy of the New Orleans Arts District from the gallery walls into the streets. The mural is located at The Justice Center. which has functioned as an incubator for progressive criminal justice organizations over the years.

The youth artists came up with the mural design after exploring the question, "What are the beauties and challenges of New Orleans?" They focused on the theme of water. The central image is of a father teaching his son to swim. In the water below the figures, the youth artists contributed their own images and poetry related to their personal experiences growing up in the city.
