Asian Flycatcher

The Asian Flycatcher is a rare Indian bird of paradise. It can be found in the area surrounding of Marol and in Aarey forest but due to the constant expansion of the city, it is facing a threat of extinction.

By painting a huge 80 feet tall mural of the bird, Solapur based artist Shirin Shaikh aimed to highlight the beauty of the bird. Many of her artworks explore the theme of nature and wildlife.

The mural was made in 3 days flat during the Ladies First Street Art Festival in 2019.
