“DIFFERENT LIFE!” - MURALS IN THE OLD TOWN

For the first time, the four cities of Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Neuss and Geldern have joined forces to jointly realize the Urban Art Festival entitled “Home Street Home” on the Lower Rhine. In the 1970s, Waldhausener Strasse in Mönchengladbach is said to have been the nightlife district to which people made pilgrimages from Düsseldorf and the whole of the Rhineland.

So it was reported to me on site. And today fewer people should get lost here than in the cemetery. That was also reported to me, but I can't say anything about it myself. But what is immediately noticeable when you walk down Waldhausener Straße from the Alter Markt towards Grünewaldplatz is the morbid charm that the street exudes.

Seven murals, which were created from 16 to 18 August 2019 as part of the urban art festival “Home Street Home”, are intended to “show differently” and “have a different effect”.
