Uncle Bobby's Wedding

Art can be a very positive voice for important social causes like gender equity, indigenous rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, social justice or climate action and also to celebrate people who champion these great causes.

No artist I know does this any better than Amanda Newman - not only do I love Amanda’s art, I love and admire her passion and persistence on social justice issues.

What a gift it is to have two of Amanda’s murals appear in the one week!

This stunning and powerful new mural is a statement about the ongoing book bans and censorship targeting libraries and schools, and the backwards DEI policies that are happening in the USA.

This piece is painted on one of the pylons supporting the Chandler Highway bridge over the Yarra River, it is on the Yarra Trail, on the north side of the river. If driving to see it I would park in Yarra Boulevard, cross the Chandler Highway via the pedestrian lights to the east side of the road and walk across the bridge - you'll find the steps down to the Yarra Trail once you cross the river, on the left hand side of the shared pedestrian/cycling pathway.

This mural replaced a previous mural of Amanda's on this pylon, you can see the previous mural here.
