Lucy Lucy

Description

Lucy Lucy painted this mural in 2016 in Birds Lane, Box Hill, in honour of the 45th anniversary of the sister city relationship between the Cities of Matsudo and Whitehorse.

The mural depicts two women sitting back to back holding hands – one Japanese and one Australian – symbolising the strong friendship between Whitehorse and Matsudo. Both wear a kimono-styled dress – the Japanese woman has patterned gum nuts with the Australian complementary in a cherry blossom design. The intricate hair knitted together emphasises the strong bonds between the two cities with the hair floating on both sides highlighting our continuously growing and evolving friendship.
