This amazing mural by Melanie Caple is for the Fitzroy Bowls Club.
It has special meaning for me because Melanie used photos of mine as reference for the Red-rumped Parrots featured.
Melanie says of the mural (from her Instagram),
"The concept for the mural centres on creating a still life that reflects both Fitzroy, the Edinburgh Gardens and the Bowls Club. I wanted to paint a composition that might naturally belong on a shelf within the club - porcelain lions as a nod to Fitzroy, amber glassware, a golden bowling ball, and dahlias arranged as familiar yet symbolic objects.
Included also are red-rumped parrots, a male and two females, as though they've flown straight from foraging on the nearby footy oval in the morning light, and settling onto the shelf among the collected pieces. Their presence brings movement to the composition, connecting the club's interior world with the life and rhythm of its surrounding environment, evocative and light."
